The native Mac edition is on the Mac App Store. It requires Apple M1 or later and macOS 13.3+. Sign in to iCloud and enable iCloud Drive before starting.
Know which edition you are getting
The Mac App Store listing is the Apple-platform version. The Steam listing for Director’s Cut lists Windows rather than a native Mac build.

You are looking at the Mac version rather than the smaller iOS starter download.
Prepare iCloud Drive
In System Settings, check that you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud Drive is enabled. These are stated requirements for the Apple release.
The required account and Drive setting are ready before launching.
Install and start
Download from the Mac App Store and open the completed app. If the icon keeps bouncing in the Dock without a window, check Game Center sign-in in System Settings, as the publisher’s launch FAQ directs.
The game opens to its menu.

Offline play and the connected world
The store says the game can be played offline, while a network connection is needed for the full Social Strand System. That is separate from preparing the required iCloud account.
