RESIDENT EVIL 4 / OFFICIAL MAC RELEASE
Resident Evil 4 on your Mac
Download the free section first. The full game and Separate Ways are separate purchases inside the app, and installation needs more free space than the store download alone.

The Mac App Store app includes a limited free part. The Base Game in-app purchase unlocks the full game. A Mac with Apple M1 or later and macOS 13.0+ is required.
What each purchase unlocks
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Free download | A limited part of the base game. |
| Base Game | Unlocks the complete base game. |
| Separate Ways | Additional story content, separate from the Base Game unlock. |
| Extra DLC Pack / upgrade tickets | Optional add-ons; not a substitute for unlocking the base game. |
Use the same Apple account that made the purchase when restoring it. The listing says these in-app purchases are not shared through Family Sharing.
Allow room for the installation
- 01Store download62.6 GB listed
- 02Publisher app estimateAbout 70 GB
- 03Installation allowanceAt least twice the app size
Plan around 140 GB free using the publisher’s approximate 70 GB estimate. The Mac listing differs from the older 30 GB mobile description; do not use that mobile figure to plan a Mac install.
Install, test, then unlock
Select the Mac listing
Confirm the compatible Mac shown in the App Store. Download the app and let installation finish with the required free space available.
The app is fully installed rather than still downloading.
Play the free section with your input
The Mac listing says a controller is optional and recommends one for its controller-oriented design. Test your intended input in the free section before unlocking the full game.
You can navigate, move, aim and confirm actions comfortably.
Unlock the content you want
Use the in-game purchase entry for Base Game. Treat Separate Ways and optional packs as distinct items.
The intended content is available under the purchasing Apple account.
Controller and save choices
The Mac listing names compatible PlayStation, Xbox and MFi controllers. Use macOS pairing and recognition if the game sees no input. Avoid applying an iPad-only input limitation to the Mac version.
CAPCOM’s listing supports uploading and downloading save data between macOS and iOS. Finish saving before switching devices and verify the intended progress after a transfer.
Check the app version when a launch instruction differs
The listing’s 1.0.4 release notes removed the requirement for an internet connection at every app start. Its older general description still contains a network sentence. Use the current app’s behavior and release notes for that startup question; downloading content, purchases and online save operations are separate actions.
For a macOS warning before the game opens, use the first-open guide. For a purchase problem, confirm the Apple account and the exact item being restored.
